Christmas Card Stamp-A-Stack - Card #1

It's hard to believe, but it's time to start making Christmas cards! My first Christmas Card Stamp-A-Stack (SAS) is Friday, September 10 @ 6:30 p.m. There will be 20 cards made for only $30. That's only $1.50 a card! Envelopes are included. There will be 5 designs, and everyone will make 4 of each design. If you live around Mooresville, IN and would like to come, please let me know by Wednesday, September 8.

The card below is one of the designs being made at my SAS. I used the new Holiday Mini set, Belles & Boughs for this card. I love vintage-looking Christmas stamps, and these are perfect for me! I also used new Holiday Mini designer series paper (DSP), Deck the Halls. These papers coordinate with the Belles & Boughs set. Notice how the paper matches the stamped image perfectly? I love how Stampin' Up! coordinates its products! Don't you?

The picture on the right is of all of the designs being made at this Christmas Card SAS. I'll feature each card in the coming days.

Bells & Boughs (Holiday Mini)

My First Christmas Card of the Year

Here is my first Christmas card of the year. I was in a swap for the Holiday mini, and this was one of the cards I made for it. I used the Holiday Mini set, Belles & Boughs. I always make quick cards for swap, since I have to make so many of them. This one fit the bill, and still looks great! I love using the Impressions Folders. They make a plain piece of card stock really pop! I used the Petals-A-Plenty Impressions Folder on this one. It goes so well with this new stamp set. I watercolored the flowers using an Aqua Painter, then I sponged around them with More Mustard ink. the ribbon I used is Cherry Cobbler 1/2" Seam Binding from the Holiday Mini. I do believe that Cherry Cobbler is my favorite "red" in Stampin' Up!'s colors. I also used a new punch from the Holiday Mini called, Decorative Label XL Punch.

Stamps: Belles & Boughs (Holiday Mini)

Ink: Basic Gray, Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke, More Mustard, & River Rock Classic ink pads

Paper: Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler, More Mustard, & Naturals Ivory CS

Accessories: Decorative Label XL Punch (Holiday Mini), Aqua Painters, Cherry Cobbler 1/2" Seam Binding (Holiday Mini), Big Shot Die-Cut Machine, Petals-A-Plenty Impressions Folder, & Stamping Sponges

Holiday Mini Sneak Peek!

I talked about the outgoing Summer Mini, and now I'm going to talk about the incoming Holiday Mini. Stampin' Up! has once again come out with another great mini! I've loved all of the minis for awhile now. The Holiday Mini begins September 1, 2010, and runs through January 3, 2111.

Today's card uses the French Foliage set from the upcoming Holiday Mini. I made this card yesterday for my brother. His birthday is today...Happy Birthday, Andy! I just love this set! The leaves look so real. I got the card layout from the a past sketch challenge from SCS. It's SC259. I just found out that it goes along with the Treehouse Thursday Challenge #64 which is using Fall Colors. I also used Autumn Spice Specialty DSP from the new Holiday Mini, too. The colors of the paper are just beautiful!

The water-marked look was made using one of the stamps in the stamp set. I inked it up with Early Espresso, and stamped off (stamping it on a scrap piece of paper) before stamping it onto the card stock. I think it makes a neat effect.

I had to put a layer of neutral card stock on the inside, because the Early Espresso card was too dark to write on. I think the leaf in the corner makes a nice little extra touch.

Stamps:
French Foliage (Holiday Mini) & Teeny Tiny Wishes

Ink: Cajun Craze, Old Olive, More Mustard, & Early Espresso Classic ink pads

Paper: Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, More Mustard, & Naturals Ivory CS; Autumn Spice Specialty DSP (Holiday Mini)

Accessories: Old Olive 1-1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Modern Label XL Punch, Word Window L Punch, Vintage Trinkets, & Stampin' Dimensionals

The Summer Mini is Coming to an End Soon!

Boy, has this summer flown by! It went way too fast! Summer ending also means that the Summer Mini is ending, too! If there is anything in the Mini you want, you only have until next Tuesday, August 31 to order it online. If you want me to place the order for you, you'll need to contact me by Sunday, August 29.

Below, I used one of the Summer Mini sets, Tropical Party. This was one of the make-n-takes made at Brandy's workshop last Saturday. I got the color combo from the new Color Coach. It was on the Concord Crush card. I love this color combo! I'll be using it a lot the next 2 years. All three colors used are In Color colors, which are now available for 2 years instead of just one. I'm so glad Stampin' Up! made this change.

It's hard to tell in the picture, but I stamped the larger flower onto a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock and cut it out. I stamped the small flowers onto the Whisper White card stock square and attached the cut-out flower with a Stampin' Dimensional. The Peach Parfait piece was stamped with the small flower using Peach Parfait ink. The birthday saying was stamped with Concord Crush ink. I really like how it turned out. Everyone at the workshop said they liked it, too! It didn't take them long at all to make this card. I just love quick and easy cards that look great, too!

Stamps: Tropical Party (Mini) & Sincere Salutations

Ink: Concord Crush, Peach Parfait, & Pear Pizzazz Classic ink pads

Paper: Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait, Concord Crush, & Whisper White card stock

Accessories: Concord Crush 1/2" Stitched-Poly Ribbon, Paper Snips, & Stampin' Dimensionals

Card Drawer Box Class is Next Friday!

I can't believe it's been a week since I posted last! There was so much to do to get Whitney ready for college this past week. I also have had a terrible toothache to boot! I'm hoping this next week will bring more time to stamp!

I wanted to take this time to remind all of my local people that next Friday, August 27, is my Card Drawer Box class. It begins @ 6:30 p.m., and it should be finished around 9 p.m. Everyone will make the card drawer box pictured below, and 10 coordinating cards & envelopes to go inside. All this for only $18! If you would like to see the cards and other views of the box, please CLICK HERE. If you would like to attend, please let me know by Wednesday, August 25.

My Daughter's Birthday Card

My daughter, Steph, turned 17 yesterday! This is the card that I made for her. She fell in love with this flower as soon as she saw it, so I knew I had to use it for her birthday card. I also had to use a lot of blue, because it's her favorite color! Steph really like it.

I saw this week's MojoMonday 151 sketch, and I knew it would be perfect for this stamp set. I also turned to my favorite impressions folder, Vintage Wallpaper. I sponged Bashful Blue ink across the embossed images to make them stand out a little more.

I love that Stampin' Up! has made the flower brads in more colors this year. I own the Subtles Collection set, and I was so glad to have the Marina Mist ones to use. They really bring something special to the card. I can't wait until I own all of the flower brad sets. The saying piece is also popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Stamps: Just Because I Care (Level One Hostess Set) & Sincere Salutations

Ink: Marina Mist, Bashful Blue, & Pear Pizzazz Classic ink pads

Paper: Marina Mist, Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Pear Pizzazz, & Whisper White card stock

Accessories: Victoria Crochet Trim, Ticket Corner Punch, Subtles Flower brads, Eyelet Border Punch, Big Shot Die-Cut Machine, SU! Vintage Wallpaper impressions folder, Stampin' Dimensionals, & stamping sponges.

Happy I Do Day

Happy Saturday, everyone! I hope you're all enjoying your weekend so far. This is going to be a busy weekend for me, but it should be a good one. My son is in high school marching band, and they played yesterday at the Indiana State Fair (almost made it into the finals...needed to be in the top 16 out of 49 bands, and they were 17th! Missed it my .35 of a point!). They did get to play again in the evening, since they made it in 17th place though. They're also playing tonight for a football game and tomorrow for out local Old Settler's Parade. Then, I spend 3-1/2 hours selling elephant ears at the Old Settler's Fair to raise money for the band. This is the first summer of being a "band parent", and it's pretty busy sometimes! Well, enough of that. Now, back to stamping.

Today, I've made a card with my new "Word Play" set. This is one of the sets I earned free from my SAB sales. I love getting free stamp sets! Being a demo is the best! If you look closely at the saying, you'll see that I put a little rhinestone on the ring to make it sparkle like a diamond ring. I'm so glad that Stampin' Up! has rhinestones now. They already have the adhesive on them, so they're really easy to use. There are 50 each of 3 different sizes for only $4.95. They're called Basic Rhinestones, and they're on p. 188 of the catalog.

Stamps: Word Play

Ink: Soft Suede Classic ink

Paper: Baja Breeze, Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler, & Very Vanilla card stock

Accessories: Very Vanilla 5/8" Satin Ribbon, Antique Brads, Dotted Scallop Ribbon punch, 1-3/4" Circle Punch, 2-3/8" Scallop Circle, Big Shot Die-Cut Machine, SU! Vintage Wallpaper Impressions folder, SU! Square Lattice Impressions folder, & Stampin' Dimensionals

New Color Combo Site!

Have you ever had trouble thinking of a color combo for your projects? I know I have! There's a wonderful site that started a few months ago, and I just found it on SCS. It's called "My Create Link Colorlab." You can click the icon below to see the site. I've also placed a link button in the left column of this blog, too. If you find that you're using this Colorlab site a lot, please consider giving a donation every once in awhile to help the lady that's running it. Her name is Julie Edmonds, and it does cost her money to keep it going, and I'm sure any amount would be appreciated. I'd hate to lose the use of this site because she can't afford to keep it going. I hope you enjoy the site...I think it's great!
