Elegant Wedding Card

I made this card for a friend's sister's wedding.  I used the Floating Reinkers technique with the flower.  It's also called something else, but I can't think of it right now.

I stamped the rose from the Fifth Avenue Floral (p. 122) with Whisper White Craft Ink onto Shimmery White card stock.  I then heat embossed it with Clear embossing power (EP).  Then, I sprayed the flower with water, until there were little pools of water in every section of the flower. I put a couple drops each of Daffodil Delight and More Mustard Classic ink refills onto a plastic container.  I then picked up some Daffodil Delight ink with an aqua painter and touched the brush tip into one of the pools of water.  The ink then spreads out.  I continued until I had all the sections with some Daffodil ink.  I then did the same thing with the More Mustard ink, cleaning the aqua painter before changing colors.  The ink spreads together giving the flower a multi-color effect.  So beautiful!

Summer Mini Sneak Peek

I hate to see the Occasions Mini coming to an end, but I'm looking forward to the Summer Mini as well.  This is one of my favorite sets from the upcoming Mini.  It's called Flower Fest.  The greeting is also a Summer Mini set called Pretty Postage.  The designer paper is part of this month's promo, and is called Paisley Petals.   I knew exactly what technique I wanted to use first with my Flower Fest set as soon as I saw it...Poppin' Pastels.

The Poppin' Pastels technique is super easy.  I stamped the flower onto Whisper White card stock with VersaMark ink.  I then rubbed Stampin' Pastels over the flower image with a sponge dauber.  The chalk sticks to the VersaMark ink and makes the image "pop."  I did the same thing with the leaves.  The chalks also softly color the inside of the flowers and leaves.  It's really a pretty effect in real life.

I also used 2 of my favorite weekly challenges.  The card sketch I used is this week's MojoMonday sketch (MOJO187), and the color challenge is this week's ColourQ challenge (cQc #81).  The color challenge called for Soft Sky which is a retired color.  I substituted it with Baja Breeze card stock.

Stamps:  Flower Fest & Pretty Postage (Summer Mini)

Ink:  VersaMark ink pad; So Saffron, Baja Breeze, & Pink Pirouette Stampin' Write Markers

Nature Walk Faux Silk Card

This card is being made by my Technique Stamp Club this week.  The technique they're learning is Faux Silk.  If you look closely, you can see the technique being used on the floral/birdcage piece.  This is the first time I've used this technique, and I really like it.

I also just had to use this beautiful set again.  It's called Nature Walk (p. 27 in the Occasions Mini).  This set is only available for a couple more weeks.  The Occasions Mini ends April 30, so you'll need to place your order very soon.  The other Occasions Mini items I used are Create A Cupcake (p. 22), Botanical Gazette DS paper (p. 26), Cherry Cobbler 1/2" Seam Binding Ribbon (p. 16), Decorative Label Punch (p. 30), and Framed Tulip Impressions Folder (p. 28).  The Framed Tulip folder looks a little different, doesn't it?  I covered up the tulips with the top card layer to give folder a different look.

I also used the Four Frames set that is part of the promotion this month.  This set is going to be in the new catalog that comes out July 1st.  If you would like to get this stamp set and/or Paisley Petals DS paper early, you can!  Place a $20 order (before shipping & tax), by April 30, and you can purchase one or both of the sneak peek items.  To see the Spring is Blossoming Flyer, CLICK HERE.  The stamp set and the paper are pictured on the flyer.  You can place your ORDER ONLINE anytime, 24/7.

My Dad's Birthday Card

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  Today's card shows off the great Plane & Simple set (p. 40 in the Occasions Mini).  I made this card for my Dad for his birthday last Sunday.  I really like how it turned out (and so did he).

I stamped the goggles all over the Cherry Cobbler base with Cherry Cobbler ink.  The strip of diamond shapes was stamped and then cut out.  The two textured pieces were embossed with the Square Lattice Impressions Folder (p. 214).  I made the tag myself.  If you have trouble getting the two angles on a tag even, CLICK HERE to see how to do it.  I love how the Antique Brad (p. 187) looks on the tag, and the little brads from the Vintage Trinkets pack (p. 187) on the bottom of the card.  Accessories really make any project look so much better.

I even decorated the inside of the card a little bit.  Decorating the inside of a card really makes the card extra special.

Plane & Simple and Bring on the Cake (both from the Mini)

Greenhouse Garden Birthday Card

I'm sorry that I haven't posted for awhile.  I just haven't had the time to post.  I used 2 challenges on today's card.  The challenges that I used were this week's SCS card sketch, SC237, and colourQ Challenge #79.

The stamp set is one I haven't used in awhile.  It's called Greenhouse Garden (p. 101).  It's a pretty 2-Step stamp set.  It's hard to tell in the picture, but the middle blue flower was cut out and attached with a Stampin' Dimensional (p. 197).  The color challenge called for Bermuda Bay, but that color is retired, so I opted to use Marina Mist.  The Marina Mist layer was embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder (p. 214), too.  The birthday greeting is from the Create a Cupcake set (p. 22 in the Occasions Mini).

Stamps:  Greenhouse Garden & Create a Cupcake (Mini)

Ink:  Melon Mambo, Marina Mist, Old Olive, & Basic Black Classic ink pads

Paper:  Old Olive, Melon Mambo, Marina Mist, Basic Black, & Whisper White card stock

Accessories:  Stamp-a-ma-jig, Old Olive 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, Neutrals Brads, Stampin' Dimensionals, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine, Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder, Paper Piercing Tool, Mat Pack, & Paper Snips
