Perfectly Preserved - Sketch CPC15

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  Boy, Labor Day weeks go fast! Craft Project Central has another monthly sketch, and it's a great one.  It's CPC 15.  The CPC sketch designer is Kris Kilkenny.   Now for the card I made using the sketch.

I just had to use one of my favorite Holiday Catalog stamp sets (probably my #1 favorite!), Perfectly Preserved (p. 29).  Of course, I had to use the coordinating Cannery Set Framelits (p. 29) with it!  The designer paper is the Holiday Catalog paper, Orchard Harvest DSP (p. 28).  I REALLY like the colors in this paper!  The dry embossing was done with the Woodgrain Impressions Folder (p. 33), also in the Holiday Catalog.

The card is pretty self-explanatory, but there are a few things I want to tell you.  I wanted to make the brads look like old nails hammered into wood, so I hammered them! :)  It's hard to tell in the picture, but hammering them put dents into the brads and flattened them.  I really like the look.  After putting the lid onto the jar, I wrapped a piece of Island Indigo Baker's Twine (p. 172) around the lid twice, and then tied the ends into a bow.  I then put a small strip of Stampin' Dimensionals (p. 177) on the top and bottom of the flower, and I attached it over the bow.  Using two small pieces of dimensionals this way made it so they didn't touch the twine.  It helps the flower stay on better, and lay flat.  I also put a dimensional on the top flower of the flower cluster at the bottom of the jar, and the "thank you" oval greeting.  The strip below the greeting was die-cut from Orchard Harvest DSP using the smallest banner in the Bitty Banners Framelits set (p. 191).

After putting the card together, I wanted to do more to the Island Indigo mat.  It just didn't look right with the "wood-grain" piece and the hammered brads.  I took my fingernail, and roughed up the edges to get the worn-look.  That little change made all the difference!
